Ok lets start in the rear. the best way I have found is to flip over the front spring hanger. makes it as low as Id ever want to go even with SS springs. You can also use lowering blocks if you just want a small drop. On the front depending on how far you want to go it can be a simple as adjusting the torsion bars. The problem is this lowers the spring rate of the torsion bars. You could use stiffer bars to offset this. Now the best way is dropped spindles. ChecK out http://www.fatmanfab.com/ . Not sure if they are listed on their website but they do make them. They are however for later disc brakes and the bigger ball joint, If you havent swapped out your drums yet you will have to now. ________ Volcano Digital Vaporizer ________ Smoking Kills |

Rear sounds easy enough. I looked at the spindles..approx. 435 bucks!!! Adjusting the torsion bars should not be that hard, if its anything like a VW front end. Sounds even better if you can offset it with stiffer bars. Where could I buy stiffer bars? |

One key concern about lowering is, of course, that the car doesn't bottom out. That's why I do not favor removing leaves from the springs. It's best to, if possible, stiffen the suspension when you lower it. I've heard the claim that cranking the torsion bars lower reduces stiffness, but I'm not sure what the extent of this is. It is likely to increase bottoming out with less travel even if the spring rate is the same. Does anyone have a chart of how much lowering can decrease the effective spring rate? I remember someone from Bigblockdart.com posting some interesting geometry calculations a while back... |

i think if you flip the front hangers you'll need to redrill the bolt holes on the subframe, they don't make a perfect square, at least on my '64 valiant... i am using 1" lowering blocks from AutoDrone, about $25 bucks, use the Mopar U bolts though, the ones that come in the lowering kit suck! for the front, try the .890 bars and set to desired height... |

Just elongate the holes a little with a die grinder. Takes like 10 minutes. ________ Honda Cr125R ________ SILVER SURFER VAPORIZER |

I sell A body hangers that have the eye bolt hole moved up 1 inch. This will lower the car a little more than 1 inch at the rocker panel. Go to www.arengineering.com for more details. |
