Alright, I just put the later A-body voltage limiter in my 62 valient, and now it reads a 1/4 tank no matter how full it is and the temp. gauge is on the first line. Now i'm thinking that the limiter is the wrong one, it's a Borg warner p/n R303, is this the correct one? I guess this is better than them not working completely. Any ideas? -Jesse |

I went to napaonline, and looked up the regulator for a 71 plymouth duster, and got Echlin ECHIR9. They have a lookup to where you can crossreference other manufacturers numbers. I searched for R303, and it comes up with ECHIR4. Just comparing the pictures, they deffinately are different, but from the inside I suppose they can be the same. |

okay, I went to Napa and got an IR9 and put it in. The gas gauge moves but not because of the gas -Jesse |

This is a quote from Chucks article on this site: NOTE: If your gauges work but read low, this repair will probably not restore full functionality to the gauges. This is because some of the current from the replacement regulator will feed back into the old internal regulator. On one car I tried with partially functioning gauges, it brought the readings up closer to normal, but not all the way. If your gauges are completely dead, this should restore full functionality. This might be your issue. I think your best bet would be to either find another cluster (or gas gauge at least), or scrap the whole idea of stock gauges and look into an aftermarket solution. Did you try grounding out the line going to the temp sensor or tank sending unit to see if the gauges pegged? Remember to only do this for a few seconds if it pegs or else you risk dammaging the gauges. |

My gauges were completely dead before, they don't move at all from were they are(until the ign. is turned off). -Jesse |
