Replacing everything on the front end of the 74 Duster. When removing the idler arm, the bolt won't withdraw as it hits the oil pump. Can I get lazy on this and cut the bolt and install a new one upside down with the head under the centerlink? There is enough room on the top of the idler to put a castle nut and cotter pin.

That's what I would do, and I think I've done it that way before. But, if you want to get anal, then just jack the motor off the mount a little to clear the bolt by the pump.

I just removed the one engine mount bolt on that side and jacked the engine up enough to clear.

You could do it that way, but the bolt is hardened, so you might be there a while trying to cut it. Better bet would be the unbolt the motor mount and jack the motor up out of the way method. Plus then you don't need to find a hardened bolt to replace the one you just cut up.
