Will the 2004 schedule be finalized at Gatlinburg?

My last newsletter went through several hands and is now lost. The board isn't updated yet to show 2004.
(The 2004 schedule is now posted)
http://www.slantsix.org/racing/2003/2004schedule.htm

Does anyone have the tentative 2004 schedule handy that they could post for me (and possibly others)?

Thanks,
Rob

Rob,
Nothing has been finalized on quite a few dates. The are still some dates up in the air and Seymour plans on discussing what everyone wants to do about them at Gatlinburg.
Bristol has been moved to the last weekend in May (29&30) and that puts it the weekend after Columbus.

Thanks Tom. I won't be here for much of this season, but hopefully a couple of the GodsRods kids will keep the Slanted fires burning.
I'm hoping for another adult to step up and take this over when I leave. They'll probably stick to more local shows and races, but you never know. This Slanted Sickness can be pretty contagious! :D

Thanks roadmouse01! Are these drag races? If so, is it 1/4 or 1/8 mile? What does that equate to in the metric system? Hopefully my wife will let me race our family vehicle until I get a "hooptie" to drive around. I've raced her mini van and suburban. Not super exciting, but they can be very consistent. 8)

Dogcatcher, Yes, GodsRods is the Christian outreach the Lord has brought together with the youth group at my local church here in Stockbridge/McDonough. We have gone to different car shows and both drag and SCCA races around Atlanta and set up what you saw at Paradise.

I have the teens over to my house about twice a week to "turn wrenches" and get things ready for the next event, etc.

This next season we are planning to add a little more to the outreach with more refreshments, literature and Lord willing a more presentable (and driveable) vehicle.

Thanks for the link. I can't open some parts, but I've added it to my favorites and I'll keep trying.

Here is the way the 2004 Points Racing schedule is looking:

Las Vegas March 19-21
MoKan April 10th (new)
Farmington May 8th (new)
Columbus May 21-23
Bristol May 29-30 (new date)
Hamilton June 19-20
Clay City July 17-18
Pitt. PA July 24-25 (new CC event)
St. Louis Sept. 10-12

Wilkesboro (TBD)

We need to find a date for the Wilkesboro race, August or late Sept. would be good based on the "gaps".

The bummer is that we have two "back to back" event weekends, Bristol is right after Columbus and the new Pittsburg event is right after Clay City.
All the east coast / northeast Slantsixers who can't pull to CLay City should try to make a good showing at the new Pittsburg event.

I hope to be at the new Pittsburg race. How many others have that on their schedule??

Also planning to go to the drags on Friday night at the Chryslers at Carlisle event. I think it is the Friday July 9th. I will double check the date. Anyone else coming to Carlisle?

Rick,

I'd love to make Pittsburgh, but I have a wedding that weekend in WI.

What would it take to get you guys to come to Clay City, KY to run the "Fastest Street Slant" race?

It would take a way for me to get there in way less than 12 hours with the Green Machine. And a way to talk the wife into allowing me to be away 3 out of 4 weekends in one month.

Lou,

I'd love to come, but it is a long way to come. Especially since I don't have a truck or trailer. I also have back to back weeks away already. Also the car is really my sons and I'd hate to tear up his car if he wasn't there.
I don't think we would be in contention for the fastest street slant with a high 14 second car, although it would be fun just to meet everyone in person.

Rick
