Haven't posted much on here, but have been lurking for a while. I have a couple of suspension questions. I have a '74 Gold Duster with the good 'ol slant 6 and a column auto. Everything is pretty close to stock except for SBP 15 inch ralleys with 235/60/15's on it. The car handles well, but everytime I take a turn much over the "recommended" speed limit (which we all know if a joke) I bottom out. I also bottom out on any kind of dip in the street. I live in downtown Seattle and we have horrible roads with many dips. Is their any cheap way to fix these problems? Obviously I could raise the front end, but it's where it is supposed to be and I like the way it sits. This car is my daily driver and I don't put much money into it (that is what my Polara is for), so any suggestions? I tend to have a pretty good lead foot, but I'm not beating the car by any means. Thanks. |

first check to see that your bumpstops are in place. after that... shocks would be a the next logical step-- in the cheap and easy progression. finally an upgrade to V8 spec t-bars and springs will help. all said and done, you'd only be in it about 300bux, cheaper if you bought "pre-tested" parts. <G> good luck! -JYH 64 Dart- like a brick on a steel wheel rollerskate 69 Fastback- the Q-Ship SoCal |
