| Post subject: | The amazing telescopic steering wheel |
Okay, I have this problem where my steering wheel makes a squeaking sound as it rubs against the emergency flasher switch. The only way to fix this is to pull the steering wheel towards myself(and I don't think I'm supposed to be able to do this). I think this happened after the bast**ds that did the tune-up on my car killed it and after pretty much going through every component in my car got it running. They even had to go looking at the inards of the steering column. After they did this it has had the wierd movement in it and it's so annoying, not to mention bad for the steering wheel. My steering is great, my shift is great, but is there some sort of spacer they may have misplaced. I've had my steering wheel off several time to see what was going on and everything seems in place. Err... and the tune-up didn't help the car much either cause they did in wrong. And my dad wonders why I never, ever, want to take my car in and have other people work on my car |

Oh, and it's been too long for me to go and tell them to fix it, though I'm not sure I'd ever want there hands on my car again... |

| Post subject: | Missing ring? |
There should be a snap ring in a groove above the little bearing on the shaft and a spring behind the bearing (I think that's how it goes - it's been a while). Anyway, if they left out the snap ring or didn't install it properly, it would let the column move around like that - I've seen it done before. |

I bet that's what they did, I'll check it as soon as I can. |
