I'm chomping at the bit too. I'm sure Doug will post the results as soon as he recovers from the weekend. I wanna see some pictures.

Six SL6 Cars made the first round, Mike Jeffrey was the fast car with a 13.01 (The are on there back-up engine and never used the spray all weekend)

Next fastest was Romeo Furio with his 67 Dart, he was running 16.20s
Wild-card Mike Andreas clocked-in with a 16.7 and a .505 reaction time.

The final came down to Mike and Romeo, Mike won it and got the best reaction time award by cutting a .501 light.

Thanks Doc,
Did Charlie Thompson drive anything up? Or did he tag along with Rick Valent?
How did the Pro-Line Dual Webbers work out for you? Did you swap gears at the track or save the effort and dial slower?
Glad you made it home safe.

Rob

:D Not only was this my first race, it was the first time I'd ever been to a race. I'm afraid I'm hooked. Where were the rest of you SoCal slanters? We gotta make a bigger showing next year. If I can do it ANYBODY CAN!!! Anybody want to meet me at Arcadia or Palmdale?

Thanks Doug (and Lou) for the motivation

Mike

Been watching Ron Parker do it, huh?

Congrats on your first race though, now you'll be abandoning your family to hang out at the race track like the rest of us.

Holy crap, Mike. Fun, ain't it? Bet you can tune another .5 sec out of that screamer at least. More mods on the way....???

Slant on,

Lou

That's awesome Mike!
I enjoyed following your thrash to get there. It reminded me of my Bristol Bash last year trying to get a "pulled out of the weeds" Duster ready. You were quite a bit more successful than I was though!
Welcome to the addiction.

Oh yeah, don't listen to Slantzilla. Try to make your family as much a part of it as you can. :D

We actually had 3 "Mikes" in the class this year, the third is Mike Williams who is from Ukiah, CA and drives a SL6 Demon.

Mike Jeffrey is our Vegas winner, the final was a great race with Romeo cutting a .506 reaction to Mike's .501 and both racers running real close to the dial-ins.

this is really encouraging to me. I was expecting everyone to be running in the 14's. The Green machine should be running very low 16's by Pittsburgh so these should be exciting races. The last(and only) time I was at the drag strip my best light was in the .800 second range so it sounds like I need to get to maple grove a few times for some light practice.

Charlie did not get out to Vegas this year, I need to start bugging him now to get him ready for next year!

We did swap gears at the track and ran a best of 18.09 in the convert. That is pretty good seeing that the car started in the high 19's with the 1 bbl.
All in all, everything went well, it is a long drive even with 2.76 gearing for the highway.
