Post subject:  BarmanBar's '66 Valiant 100 Wagon

:D I've always thought the '63-'66 Valiants were just about the most perfect station wagons ever conceived, and I have owned a few of them. I just bought a 48,000 mile survivor from an enthusiast in Colorado. This '66 100 is unrestored, and in remarkable condition, especially for a wagon. Ordered by a lady in Jacksonville Fla, who wanted no baubles of any kind, it has radio-delete, rubber floor mats, manual 3-spd, blackwall tires, hubcaps... but has a 225 sl6 with factory in-dash air conditioning! The original window sticker enumerates a base price of $2387.00, to which $318.50 was added for the a/c, nearly a 14% premium; that's like paying $2800 for the same accessory on a new $20,000 econocar!

So far, the only change I made was to add a set of Omni wheel trim rings, which can be removed for shows. Since this car is unrestored, I plan to make no cosmetic changes that can't be returned to stock. The second owner souped up the engine a bit, but it isn't immediately apparent until one notices the 2.5" exhaust system coming out of the manifold. I am strongly considering installing a Keisler 5-speed to make high speed cruising easier on the mill. With an eye towards this modification, I've ordered a set of rugs from Legendary, which could cover the altered trans tunnel neccessitated by such an upgrade. The original floormats could then be saved, uncut. -More as it happens!
