My experience with both setups on similar vehicles convinces me there is a definite seat-of-the-pants difference between a one barrel and a Super Six on the street. My visits to the track suggest that the time slip difference is in the half-second range for the quarter-mile.

Has anyone done serious track comparisons between the two intake combinations on the same car?

With a stock engine with headers i picked up about 6/10 of second with the supersix setup.

If the 1bbl you replace is working properly you will gain about 10 horse with a Super Six. It's still a pretty small carb.

How much of a difference would there be between a Super Six (BBD) set up with dual Clifford headers and an Offy with a Holley 390 CFM 4 bbl + dual Clifford headers?
I plan on having the engine rebuilt and was wondering if it is worth it to convert to the Offy + 4 bbl.

Thanks.

When I went from a SS to a 390 and Offy on my Duster I gained about .6 and 4 mph.

Thanks.

That is not much of a gain.
I think I will stick to my Super Six.

Uhhhh, that's a considerable gain actually. I'd guess in the neighborhood of 25 horse at least.

GunPilot, I must be more desperate than you, I'd vote for John Kerry if it got me 6/10 ET.

i gained .44 from a properly tuned 1bbl to 2bbl setup on my 74 swingerwith 2.76 gears. but i also switched to a jr header at the same time so im sure that helped some. but, i still kept the 1 7/8" headpipe to the muffler so i could keep the test as fair as possible. you can see some of my results in the virtual dragstrip forum.

wow, another .6 going from a ss to a 390 holley? hmmm, will it still fit under the hood with a stock type aircleaner? i like my almost bonestock looking setup.

If it is a street car you can pick up about .5 in the 1/4. Its all about how much is it going to cost and the effort. :D :D

Hell I would vote for Bagel for President than John Kerry :D :D
