This problem just started recently. When the engine is cold it has no power and shakes like it's missing. However once it warms up everything is perfectly fine.

My '64 does the same thing, and it's caused by fouled plugs that clear after the engine gets hot.

Try this....

When cold,... pull-off the air cleaner before you start the car. "Pump" the throttle once by hand to make sure the choke fully closes. (it should just snap-shut)

Now start the car and look to see if the choke "pull-off" (vacuum diaphram) pulls the choke flap about 1/3 open. Try *slowly* opening the choke flap more to see if the engine runs better with additional air.

Adjust the "dogleg" pull-off linkage or replace the vacuum "pod" as needed. (they do ware-out)

If the engine runs very long on a closed choke, it will "soot foul" the spark plugs.

My '81 van did the same thing ( much worse in winter) and I had little luck with professional shops in identifying a completely dead pull-off. I guess they mainly understand fuel injection nowadays.
