hi martin! and hi everyone

just to point out that in the engine bay pic you can see the original factory equipped modified front exhaust manifold section "a la Dutra". that thing on the left is a propane conversion kit (they use it for economy reasons, propane is much more cheaper than regular or premium gas)

His hood is held up by torsion bars, just like the trunklid. I have never seen that before.

Where did you get that funky air cleaner at?

that cleaner was stock. (not in that color) and they where made in brazil for the holley 2300 and 4100 series carburetor. Is an oil bath type.

as for the torsion bars, all our argentinian A bodies had that feature.

Very nice car, Martin. Keep up the good work down there.

All pre-67 US Mopar A-bodies (B/C too?) also had torsion bars as hood springs.

long story...

back in '70s when local chrysler branch where in the top of their production, they developed this a-body base / b-bodyish looking car. They started to work on a 67 dart body and reworked all the exterior sheetmetal. By the time the car was done (early'68) they started to think about developing a 2 dr hartop version and they decided to release the 4 doors first. After june '68 they released the basic "dodge-valiant" car. Shortly after that start (the car looked great) they created three other versions, using fancy american names or important sounding names such as Polara (wich was one step better equipped than the dodge-valiants) and 2 "top notch" versions of the same car: the "coronado" wich intended to be a luxury car with auto trans and real fancy upholstery plus vynil roof) and the GT (wich was the same car with vynil, A833 4 on the floor, bucket seats, sporty looking and special 3.31 rear end plus a "high compression" (by the time) enhanced slant six engine.

So far, so nice.

By the beggining of '69 the 2 door version was finished. They called that the "GTX", wich had the very same drivetrain than the dodge GT. They stopped the production of the 4 dr GT (being the rarest of this line) and released the GTX in june 69'

some local genius had the idea of fitting the GTX with the LA318 engines (they imprted many things from méxico and heads and such was casted here) and trying to narrow down the "sport" line, they stopped the production of the 225 GTX for a little while.

We're a country of great contrasts, and many people didn't like the V8 so they released a very poorly equipped and poorly craftmanshipped Dodge Polara Coupé wich was basically the GTX minus all the nice things, plus bad weatherstripping sealing, no vynil roof, 3 on the three, front bench seat. dind't turned out so well... the people whom was longing for a 6 cyl coupé didn't like the 3 on the tree "granny looking" style of the dodge polara coupé... so they released a "sporty" 6 cyl coupé called the Polara RT (no slash down here)
That RT feature implied big holley 2300, 174 HP SAE high compression (again, 8.5 for that era) engine with special crank and bore (displacement was 3688 instead of 3682 wich is 225) and stroke was plain 104 mm (like half a centimeter less than the "regular" stroke (you do the math with the bore here, I kinda suck at that cause I often end up overwhelmed by math conversions between english and metric sistems.. sorry  ) and a special A233/4 on the floor transmission (adaptation of the A230, reverse locking trigger on the hurst looking shifter). One particular addition for that RT package was the exhaust system: the front section was a separated piece (much like doug's "dutra duals") and the rear section was just like doung's pieces, cutted, welded and enlargened rear section, keeping the heat riser capability. Those ex manis where dropped to a big 1 3/4 Y pipe trailing to a 2" single tailpipe.

no necesariamente  el RT es un slant six que tiene SU cigueñal en particular y las bielas son distintas también... además el número del motor debe incluír las letras RT dento de la numeración. Si no, no es RT
