The stock cam and valve springs are "suspect", most likly the can. At what RPM does it "go flat"? Any "crackle or pops" (valve float = soft springs)

no but the car stops pulling around 4300. When I get my head back from the shop I will need to what with the valve springs to get to maybe 5000 rpm so I have some more room to go faster without redlineing it for the last 100 yards or what ever.

Andrew,

It may be possible that you are just running out of carb or fuel too.

It could be but with the turbo and the extra fuel pump the carb is not really a factor, and as for fuel the air/fuel gauge that I have says I am still on the rich side. That is why I was woundering what I could do too it to pull more rpms?

Andrew,

I asked about the turbine housing, because the TBird turbos came in both .48 and .63 A/R versions. If you have the .48 version, it may be holding your engine back on top end.
Fyi - the .63 version has .63 A/R cast in the turbine scroll. Some of the .48s are not marked, and some are.

Fyi - there's a guy with a 440 mopar twin turbo that used two of the Tbird turbos with .48 A/R turbines. His car would not pull past 4900 rpm with the small turbines. The way I see it, you have apx 1/2 the cubes that he has, so if you have a .48 turbine, this could be a problem.

Fyi - all the efi 2.3 Ford turbos have the same
compressor specs - 60 trim. You can have the compressor housing machined for a GN Buick wheel [it is a T04B style wheel] for more flow. This is a common upgrade that the 2.3 Ford and Merkur guys do. Check this link out if you like;

Go to the T3/T4 link at the left.

Btw - do you have the intercooler plumbed parrallel, or one after the other? If you are blowing from one into the other, I bet you are seeing a bunch of pressure drop. You could try testing before and after the intercollers to see what your pressure drop is.

I do have the bigger of the 2 turbos that you mention. The turbo will push alot more air then what I am asking of it. 10 lbs is what I am running and it will go to 15 just as quick, or more!! As for my intercoolers it does blow from one to the other but that is all I have room for. The way the frount grill and the bumper is I could only mount it behind the bumper, Which does not get much air. I put a alum. front spoiler on and cut the front of the bumper out to get more air, I think that is where my car gets alot of the power from. I run a totaly stock head and bottom end but everything else is upgraded

Hi Andrew,
[merry xmas all]

If you have the .63 A/R turbines, I suppose your lack of rpm is not because of a too small a turbine. Fyi - the efi GN Buicks have a .63 A/R
T3 turbine.

Where is your boost gauge hooked up? Before or after the intercoolers? Have you checked pressure before and after the coolers? I wonder how much pressure drop you are seeing? Imo, more than 3psi is too much drop.
