Hi,

The A/C in my car is broken. (wasn't working when I got the car) The leak seems to be comming from the hard/flex hose connections as the ends are oil soaked.

Question, Would a 123 conversion kit with leak stopper fix the problem or do I really need to replace the lines. I am havong trouble finding a junk doner in the local yards my area.

Thank you

Paul

Check with some local A/C repair shops in your area. Many, if not most, are now able to put new hoses on your old fittings and steel tubes.

123 Conversion kit? Do you mean R-134?? My understanding is that to use R-134 you need to upgrade hoses, o-rings, seals, to be compatible with R-134. Also R-134 requires a different oil in the system than is used with R-12.

Also, the AC system needs to be evacuated before installing refrigerant. Many people mistakenly think you can add refrigerant to a non working system and it will work. Not true. Also if the system has been not working you will need to replace the filter/dryer along with any other repairs you need.

Best is to have a professional that knows what they are doing and has the proper equipment to do the job.
