i am looking to buy a 73 dart w/ a /6. what is the horsepower rating for this car(225/6)? also, with a mild rebuild(60 over, bigger valves,better intake and exhaust, 2bl. carb)what horse power can i achieve.

In all seriousness, a '73 motor will make about 110 hp. With the stuff you want to do you'll make it to about 160 or so.

My slant is what I consider to be a "mild" rebuild and I like it for daily driver use....
Super Six w/ stock Carter BBD
Comp Cams 252s
9.22:1 compression (.1 milled off block and head total)
Stock valves with ported head and Bronze Guides
.020 over pistons

It definately has"umph" where you need it, I think more carb and more gears would help it, I think I'm getting around 130HP plus or minus.

If I went oversize valves, and 60 over. I'd be looking at a 4barrel carb and Dutra Duals or Headers....My car has stock "Feather Duster" Exhaust but I think a bit more exit would help the motor at highway speeds....

How about a Slix with an electronic ignition, ported head, larger valves, Dutra Duals w/ dual Flowmaster exhaust, and an EFI conversion w/ a larger bore throttle body?

That oughta make it nice and mean, eh?
