All I've heard jives with what Al has said. I will eventually do sequential when the computers become cheaper, as it will help emissions and probably low-rpm mileage, but I think the biggest advance is going from TBI (or carb) to multi-point EFI. Having a computer-programmable timing curve will also be nice.

Cheers,

Lou

Well I have finally made up my mind on the buildup I want to do. I will be doing a batch fire Fuel injected blow thru turbo with an intercooler. I will be putting everything on the car in the spring. This will give me lots of time through out the winter to do all or most of the fab work in my basement where its nice and warm(only 16 farenheit today). I will be using as much junkyard stuff and home made stuff as possible as I have the tools and the machining, welding skills that I should need for this project.

Is the 3.8 gm still going to be the best donor vehicle for the FI stuff?

I will eventually be buying a GN turbo and running a modest amount of boost...likely no more than 10psi as I don't want to be ripping out rods and pistons.

What junkyard injectors and throttle body should I look for from what vehicles, as that will be my first batch of purchases. I will be starting with the intake manifold using the article here as a guideline. I figure if I can fab the intake manifold, mount the throttle body install the injectors and fuel rail. Also I should be able to have the exhaust manifold fabbed up with the turbo mounted to the throttle body.

Then in the spring that will leave me with fuel lines, electronics and fuel pump, guages and exhuast work.

I was planning on using the MeagaSquirt EFI computer.

After shopping around and seeing what is available, this looks like a pretty sweet setup.

I have not gotten to the stage in my buildup where I am ready to do this, so I need to put it off for a while.

I thought it might be a good idea to start another thread discussing the Megasquirt computer with the /6. If anyone is using or has thoughts about using the Megasquirt EFI, please post your comments there.

Lou, maybe you could kick off the discussion with your background thought that lead to your purchase.

...you may want to grab the fuel rail from the 3.8 donor car. Who knows? You might be able to use the injector nipples on your fuel rail when you build it. 8)
It's a minor detail, I suppose, but having that fuel rail to examine and scavenge from could be helpful.
