Hi, anyone ever put a pre 68 motor with a post 68 trans? I know there is an issue with the converter and flexplate. But I was looking to see if any one else has done some sort of modification to achieve this. I was thinking about shaving the snout on the converter. Is there a year of converter that has the late trans spline but the early pilot bushing? HELP!!!!

There is not enough meat in the converter or crank snout to do what you propose - sorry. You will need either a post-68 crank, a hybrid converter (they custom make 'em!), or a pre-68 trans and converter. Try Midwest Converter (Dennis just posted their number in Race talk column, I believe).

When I run into this issue, I pop-out the front pump of the 904 and swap the input shaft to the earlier 3/4-18 spline unit, then use the early converter.
You can also machine out the back of the crank but that means the crank has to come-out.

I had the opposite problem.....too large crank opening for a pre-68 transmission...I swapped cranks. :P :P

If the hole in the crank is too big, that's not really a problem. You just make an aluminum bushing to reduce it to the proper size. Pat B, a local tranny guy, uses old rear supports to machine out and part off to make the 'rings'
