Going to freshen up my motor, and build a new one. I haven't done one in about 15 yrs. Can some of the racers, recommend what kind of rings and bearings are the "hot lick" today. Back in the "old" days, I used a lot of TRW parts and Clevite bearings, but they are not available any more.
Thanks

The only brand I can find is Sealed Power, but some people seem to like 'em, so that's likely what I'll use once I get a chance to crack my friend's 225 open.

Actually, to put it a better way, I haven't heard anything negative about 'em, but I've only heard a couple people give their opinions too.

I got a hold of a Hastings ring set a while back, that looked pretty good.
Are you looking for any special type of top ring, like moly or chrome??
Truth is that I relie on the measurments & clearances more then the part's brand name.

I had good results with the TRW double moly ring sets, when they were available. Don't like chrome, seem to take too long to seat, in a race motor. I also like the tri metal bearings, my crank is hard chrome plated, so I can run a harder bearing. But I can't seem to find any trimetal bearings, only micro babbitt.

I thought Michgan 77 were all trimetal for the Slant?? I have moly rings in both my motors, but I can't remeber the brands, and it's been over 10 years!

Lou, Sounds like me. I used TRW Ramco rings, but no longer available. If I remember correctly, the Michigan 77 bearings were just like the Clevite 77 bearings, trimetal. However I can only find regular Michigan bearings for the slant.
