I noticed Clifford has done some updating/changing of the web sight. Has anyone had any positive dealings with them lately? I might want to go with a Hyper pack manifold. Are there any casting problems with these, Doc you would know the best I suppose. :!:

Thanks,
c-dog

Last I knew the HP intakes were $299. I'd like to get one, but I've bought too much other junk this winter.

A divided plenum, sideways mounted carb works great on the long ram Hyper-Pak. That is the type I liked the best and run on my dragcar.

The manifold floor work does help fuel distribution but thats a real "hit or miss" thing, I have added dams, dividers, waffels etc. and was only moderatly successful in getting the distribution better. I would not bother unless you havs some distintly rich and lean cylinders to even-out.

The best thing you can do for a street driven H.Pak is to run some exhaust pipe tube right under the floor of the manifold so you can get some heat into it.

Eventually I would like to install fuel injection and a turbo on my slant. I was wondering if having a Hyper-pak manifold would make any difference on a fuel injected or tubo charged motor? Do the long runners and "ram effect" only apply to naturaly aspirated engines?

Thanks!

Reed

The "ram effect" is base on runner length and it does not matter if the manifold is wet or dry. Fact is that an EFI Hyper-Pak would work even better then a carb. version just because you would have even fuel distribution, better then any wet manifold would ever get.

If you look at all the new cars, guess what you see, special long runner intakes with EFI. The Hyper-Pak (and other Mopar ram manifolds) were just ahead of their time. (it took another 20 years for FI to catch-up)

As for using the stock exhaust manifold, that works OK but you need to block-off the heat riser opening and the single outlet will kill some top end power.

If you want to play around with a Hyper-Pak, best get a Clifford manifold ASAP. I have it from a good source that the last batch of 30 units made by Clifford will be the last ones made.

Thanks for the heads-up on Clifford's stock, Doc! If there were 30, make that "29" now. I already had bought the water jacketed intake, but if this is "it", we just had to have the Hyperpak! They've dropped the price from $395 to $295. :D

Now I have two carbs (390/570) and two intakes. Should be fun doing the 'ol mix and match to figure out which will work best with our combo. Even if it runs like junk, worst case the Hyperpak should really look cool hanging on the wall like a piece of art!
