I had low compression in two cylinders. At first I thought it was the exaust valves sinking into the heads, because I didn't have hardened seats. This is not the case!! I first spun all the pushrods as I turned the motor over, they all turned. So I pulled the head, and found that the exaust valves were not sinking at all. It looks as though a couple of exaust valves were leaking. I was going to just do a valve job and run the thing. Is this ok??
I really dont want to spend the money on hardened seats when it looks as though it doesnt need it. I just want it to last another year. Then I will rebuild.

Me personally, I'd do the valves and run it. To me, the flap about hardened seats is a bunch of hooey. I had my hot rod head done without hard seats. A lot of guys told me that it would sink the valves. It's been run harder than 90% of the motors on this board and I have never had a tight valve yet.
