Hello,

Just got a 74 Swinger a few weeks back. Slant 6 with 74,000 miles. The front end looks too high, would like to lower it to make car look even. Is there a shorter type shock available? I read about rear leaf spring replacement, should I raise the rear instead? 8)

Could also be the torsion bars are weakening or the height screws need to be set. Try pushing the front of the car down, either side, to see if the shocks make any funny noise and if the car rebounds.

If you do not mind having the front lower, just loosen the torsion bar adjustment screws to lower the front of the car.

Be advised that a change in front end ride height has an effect on the alignment settings, it is best to have a wheel alignment done as part of this process.

Note that with some cars, alignment specs can not be "brought-in" if the front end height is too low. Tell the alignment tech you want the front end lower then spec or he may just rase it up, back to where it was.
