I recently discovered that my brake lights do not work. The bulb elements were fried so I got replacements from Pep Boys, still nothing. I do have power going to the brake light switch but no ground on the "ground" side of the switch. I do have continuity between the bulb sockets/ground wires to the body ground but no continuity from the "ground" side of the switch to the bulb socket/ground wires or body ground. I'm assuming that my problem lies somewhere in the wiring but my wiring diagrams are very indecisive(source-Haynes Repair Manual). Any help would be appreciated...hopefully I can stop pulling my hair out(it's my daily driver-'72 Duster). Thanks in advance.

I'm a bit confused with the "no ground side to the brake switch" comment.
Yes, there is no ground side on the brake switch at the peddle. This switch just passes "hot" up to the turn signel switch in the steering column.

I will see if I can come-up with a wiring dia. for a 72 Duster, sounds like that would help.

Looks like power comes thru the fuse box, thru a Hazard flasher then to the brake switch, after that it goes to the turn signal switch in the steering column. time to pull out the test light and trace the path.

Do the turn signals work? If they don't i would spend my time looking for a bad ground or change the turn signal switch--ive traced three vehicles with no brake lights to the turn signal switch (including my own, but nothing older than '78, so brake/turn signal wire routing may be different)

If the turn signals do work...

Use a circuit tester to check both sides of the brake switch. One side should always be hot and the other side should be hot when the brake is pressed. If that works, the problem is most likely in the turn signal switch. Check both turn signals with brake on and brake off and report your findings.
