My wife surprised me by having the seats in my Valiant rebuilt. The original fabric had split, the vinyl was going, springs were broken and poking through, and I went lowriding every time I sat in the car.
The new upholstery looks and feels a lot better, but there are other, more important improvements: height and material. Repairing the springs and cushions brought the seat height up to spec. Now I can actually read my under-dash oil pressure gauge without bending sideways!
In addition, the vinyl is now confined to the sides. In a non-AC (for now) car in Texas, vinyl seats are not fun. Remember, this is a daily driver that only sees the inside of the garage for major work.
The seat, steering wheel, and pedals are your physical interfaces with the car. Even more than the gauges, they tell you what the car is doing. Give them a little attention now and then, and you'll enjoy the car even more.

I totally agree. Having good seats and controls can completely change your driving experience.

Man I definitely know what you mean about vinyl seats and the sun... I always keep around an old bedsheet to use as a seat cover after the car's been sitting in the sun.

Know what you mean, had mine redone a couple of years ago in leather only to replace them this year with 97 seabring vert seats (for the intergrated seatbelts). The improvement is incredible, thou I had no complaints about the factory buckets. Now what do I do with the orginal seats?

how hard are the sebring seats to install? Did you do any extra bracing on the floor? Swapping seats is another project I have in the back of my mind

Made box out of 2x4 .25in u-channel to reinforce the bottom of the pan, Pay paticular attention to where the retractor is connected and use a .25in steel plate on the bottom of pan in this location.Transfer bolt pattern to completed frame and drill all necessary holes. Weld or bolt this assembly to bottom of pan and use large diameter washers (I perfer foundation washers) on seat frame bolts make sure all fasterners are grade 8.

Any chance you can take pictures of the underside? Also, where did you get the sebring seats, at a late model junkyard? I know they charge a lot for seats there especially if they have electronic movements

Sebring 'vert seats on on my BOLO (Be on the lookout) list, but somewhere below the disk brake conversion parts.
I've never seen a Sebring Convertible in the junkyard. Maybe they go to classier places than those I frequent!

Used my search engine under 97 seabring convertable took about 3 wks to find them at a late model chrysler wrecking yard in Northern California, were not easy to find, when I got a promising lead did a parts request out of 8 places I tried only one yard was able to fill the order after i agreed to waive the warranty , most didn't bother to respond to my e-mail. Don't have digital camera so no photos will have to borrow one as their seems to be a interest in this conversion. Must give credit where credit is due as idea was gleened from Gary Sands who has also done this to his 64 valiant. Be prepared for possible sticker shock if you decide to do this as my setup cost me $650.00 for new, never installed seats would think you could reduce cost if you found a set not in mint condition and complete with seatbelt module and associted harness. As always ones ingunity will dictate final results and i bet you could do this for less. Just i'm a sucker for never used parts and will pay the price for safety in light of my wife's accident where the lap belts were useless and she was gravely injured. Happy Hunting
