okay, we got our dart running pretty good, its a '67 dart gt, the old master cylinder was leaking inside the car, so we replaced it, now its doing the same thing, the pedal appears to be pulling the piston out of the master cylinder, into the car, any ideas how to fix this? the tabs that hold the piston in on the old one were broke and the new ones seem to be slipping out of the way, we have to pull the pedal up sometimes to get the brake lights to shut off, which leads to another question, "what would be the cause of a spark when the pedal hits the switch that shuts off the brake lights?" it blew the fuse controlling the tail/brake lights, dome light, and the instrument panel lights....

It sounds to me like you need to make a stop so the pedal doesn't come up so far. It has probably broken the switch too, that's where the sparks are coming from.

I'm with Dennis here. The brake light switch is on an adjustable bracket so you can push it toward the pedal a bit if the new switch doesn't turn off correctly.

Thanks for the suggestions...The bracket for the switch had somehow become bent to the left I repositioned it and it works great!

I also made my own beefy tabs to make sure the piston stays in the master cylinder should the switch bracket move again. Thank You!
