I have seen Dale Rose and Tom Drakes outstanding performances in unlimited a/s 2000-2349 lb. drag cars. But what is the fastest ever 1/4 ET for a slant six??

My project is a supercharged (Eaton M112) injected on alcohol via mega squirt, 1800 lb. w/driver front engine dragster.

I don't want to sound presumptuous but my goal is 450 HP/1800lb.= 9.25 sec. That's about 2 HP per cube but I can also spray it a little after I have some baselines to work off of.

Does anyone know how successful Charles Myers in Winterville, NC has been in his rear engine dragster??

I"m not trying to say I'll do this or that, to me drag racing is fun no matter how fast you go, I race all over Div 7 in a 1967 %$#@* Camaro. The slant is a challenge, so I have to set the bar some where to start.

Sounds like a fun project! I see no problem with your numbers. Myers ran 9.70s or 80s with the FED?? His was a mild-ish N2O motor, IIRC. I never saw the RED run, but saw him make the 9.93 pass in the Arrow.

The Drakes were shooting for low-mid 9s with a light Rampage pickup w/upgraded turbo motor, but project is on indefinite hold...

I am hoping Ryan Peterson lightens up his car or puts his turbo motor in something light.

Charles' dragster was N/A and ran 9:80's. It was too light to hold a record.

Arrow went 9:90's.

Drakes went 9:80's.

Cox Bros. went 9:90's.

Mike went 10:0's.

I'm pretty sure Flyin' Ryan hasn't gone as fast as he can yet.

There are at least three slant six powered front engined dragsters under construction not counting yours, at least one plans to run a supercharger. There should be plenty of competion for this type of car, go for it!

I told Leighton Drake Put the Rampage in a bat out of hell mode and I would drive it for a national record. Did not happen but I would still do it . I think that Rampage could get close to the 8 second mark. Thanks Ron :D :D

Thanks for fed back and encouragement. I will get pictures up next week.

Here is the project as it stands:

Purchased a late 60's or 1970's FED it is 200" WB I am in the process of shorting it to 168"

Fabricated a SL/6 to TH350 trans adapter, the TF904 is to long and no shorty tail housing is available.

Have the Eaton M112 blower working on a custom manifold, with electronic injectors, fuel rail, blowout plate, and air to water inter-cooler.

I am using K1/Wiseco piston rod combo, having blocks sonic checked and decked so I'll know deck height to figure 8.75:1 compression ratio.

Jim

Jim,

Thanks for the progress. Sounds like you are getting serious.

As of now, we have just added an "AA" class that is anything 1999# and under. I do mean ANYTHING with wheels on it, is included.

If we really see an explosion of dragsters at lower weights, we might consider dividing this class later, but I see no reason to do it until we see how many cars are developed. So far, I don't believe there's been an open wheel car (dragster or otherwise) at a Slant 6 race in >10 yrs... Looking forward to seeing one or more in person.

Lou
