The Slicks I have Are DOT Cheaters So Thay have 2 Little Slivers of "tread" on them with Treadwear Indicators.. The "tread" is GEtting down to the Wear Bars Now Like on Normal street tires.. So I have At Least 1/16" of more life / burnouts in them.

is there more lif in them that that?

What about the Little Round Dots / Holes in the Tread ? I always thught they were fro tire Temps Like in nascar, but can I use those as an indicator??

Thanks for you help.

Greg

You will usually see your 60' drop off when it's time for tires. Do not try and stretch out the life of a slick. You may come back from a run and find cords hanging out of the tread.

Guess how I know this.

Real race cars usually kill the sidewalls before they wear the tread out too. One other thing to think about when buying used slicks that you see for sale at the track.

For $5 I'll set you up with studs in those slicks Mark. Might help when the track's cold at Samoa. I don't think they'll let you run chains though.

You would have had the record if you could have hooked up!

Mark, I think everone spun a bit. Maybe they are not allowed to use a lot of VHT as it must be known by the state of California to cause cancer.

Actually they do a good job of prepping that track. The problem is too cold a track surface is just as bad as too hot a track surface. On Sunday afternoon when the sun almost came out the hook was outstanding. Instead of total car weight you should try to get it close to 50/50 distribution ,add some junk to the trunk .
