Inability to deliver and poor quality rocker shaft were the two biggest issues.

no kidding... you would think a new owner would want a clean slate and try to clean something like that up...

In all seriousness, roller rockers on a Slant are about the worst big dollar item you can get. They cost a lot, and return very little.

Trust me, I have 2 sets. :shock:

but what cam are you running?

if the head flows up to .550(or Past) and you dont want to run a bunch of duration there isn't alot of other places to get that needed lift...

right now im sitting with 246 @ .050 and revs to about 6000 but my valve lift is only .475... Edd J did the head and it flowed up over .550...

so i have about 30cfm on the table which is alot...

Just buy a different cam with more lift. 246 @ 0.050" is pretty long duration, so a range of lifts are available.

Dude...don't call comp, they don't know crap about our engines...go to their web page and download the "Lobe Catalog"...spend time looking at the Mopar MM lobes(I know one hyperpakked 198 motor used one of the "M" cams to assist with the ram-tune dyno run on the top end)... I see that lobe 6584 will provide the .570 lift @ 1.5 ratio with a 251@.050 requirement lash would be about .20-ish depending on how tight the ramp is(6585 would be better with lash and a smidge more duration to hit your goal)...I guess if you went with a hemi lobe the 290@050 with a .702 lift would be overkill since the ports in our head will probably eel over on the benefits just past the .550 mark, thus more duration to help at that point.

I spent a year taking notes out of the 2004 Master Catalog while being outsourced (Rob Simmons can say that the dry-erase board in my office was a long rod build up nightmare...Right Rob!!!! LOL). I talked to comp when I came back and they won't recommend any custom lobes or cams
since they can't be guaranteed or warranteed, you have to do the research and detail the cam you want (lobes, LSA, etc) and bear the burden of the design and mistake if it doesn't work.

FYI,

-D.Idiot

Yeah, it was cool getting to meet up with a fellow Slanter downrange. :D

I went over to D.I.'s FOB (Forward Operating Base) to meet and "Talk Slant"... He made my head hurt! :lol: I still owe you a pizza, don't I? :shock:

(Yes Wayne ["Cookie"],... I treated Rob Armstong poorly too and did not make good on my promise to buy him pizza in Iraq... :roll: I gotta beat Wayne to the punch on this stuff. He's really mean to me. :cry: At least I'm not as much of a "Poser" as you are "Cookie"! :P
Your friend,
"Mater" :lol: )
