I am building a turbo'd engine. I have some blocks with the cast crank. Are the blocks good? Are the forged cranks from the early engines compatable with the late blocks? :?:

I would not worry about using a cast crank motor unless you are shooting for over 450-500 HP. Several 400+HP motors have been cast crank.

No, you cannot "drop in" a forged crank into a cast block, but some creative machining could make it happen.

I had read the article by Doug but was hoping that a forged crank from a early motor would fit into a cast crank block. Thanks for the info.

Best and easiest to find a complete forged crank block and crank...

Oh well I guess I need another motor. Evidently more than a dozen isn't enough. All just the wrong ones.
