Now how to affix it to the board!

I snagged a few items from Doc a couple years ago to start an award for whoever blows something up in the most spectacular way at a Killer Bees race.

What do you think?

Ceej....is the piston and rod reasonably secure to the pin?
If so, a long stud with wood screw threads on one end, and say, 3/8 bolt threads on the other, with the stud going through the pin, and being held down to the plaque with a chrome acorn nut.

No. It is not. The pin is laying in what's left of the piston.

OK....That idea's out the window. How about cast the whole thing in clear lucite?

Just a big clear plastic block with the parts inside. Maybe add a small, engraved plaque near the bottom, stating the award and event.

I think mechanic's wire and duct tape follows the spirit of the award.

is there a clear type epoxy? glue that thing somewhat together-- then sit it on the piston for a nice paper weight/ trophy. Lawrence

I thought about doing the Resin thing, but I'd have to clean the surfaces all up to do it. Wouldn't adhere well otherwise. On top of that, I don't have clear resin. Lot's of laminating resin, which come to think of it, I need more of.

I'm liking the idea of doing it with a bit of epoxy, and some fence wire, just to keep things real. The board is too small. I'll figure out another chunk of wood. Need to come up with a brass plate with "I broke my Slant @ the Races!", then have small brass plates underneath that can be etched with the name and date.

I'll have to come up with lots more parts to make new ones each year that somebody earns one. Not for simple stuff, We'll hold this award back for catastrophic melt downs.

I was going to use it for an ugly truck contest, but we need something different for that. Busted engine parts don't say, "Ugly Truck" actually. They say, busted engine!
