This weekend was the NHRA Division 5 points race and Mike was there with the Diplomat. Saturday morning I got off work at 7, went to my buddy Bill's house, showered, changed clothes, and we were off to see Mike. After an uneventful trip we got to Mike's pit area just before he got called up for the 1st round. Car was running well, and Mike was #10 on the ladder.

Went up to the stands to take some pictures, and saw them spraying the starting line on Mike's side just before he got pulled from staging. Mike ran a guy in a 12 second Pontiac, and the extra sticky on the line lugged his motor a little, and he ran too far off his dial. Had the guy on the tree, but the other guy was closer to his dial.

Spent the rest of the day hanging out, eating track food, BS'ing, and picking out my next ex wife.

Mark and I met a dude at Bonneville who (on his way here) talked to Mike in a rest area in Colorado on his way out. We identified Mike immediately from the description.

Mark's Valiant drag car is getting gobs of attention parked in the Bonneville pits. I am too chicken @#$% to drive my 68 Dart out there because of the salt and impending rust...

Lou
