My grandfather purchased a 62 Valiant in a package deal with another car. This particular car used to belong to a man by the name of Oscar Derrick. From what I understand he has already passed away. We are interested in knowing the history of the car or any information anyone may know. We do know the car won a Mopar or maybe a slant six race in Bristol in 2002 (I think) and was on the cover of a magazine. Thanks for any informationand thanks for addadding me to your forum

I think so. Its yellow now. It does look like on the inside of the car it was white at one time. There is a phrase on the hood scoop that says "six equals eight". I don't know if that is a one of a kind phrase or if it is a saying in the slant six world. This is the first 6 cylinder race car we've owned

6=8 used to be the motto of Clifford Performance, a former supplier of good in-line six cylinder performance parts.

Trying to post pictures of the car. Not real sure how to do it on the phone. There is a Clifford performance sticker on the back windshield....the car has seen its better days. Does any one know what kind of times the car was running?[/img]

Per Rodney:

Oscar beat Rodney in the finals at Bristol, He ran dead on his dial in. I believe he was one of Dale's good buddies. Rodney doesn't remember what the car ran but that it ran pretty good and was very consistent.

That's all he can tell me on it.

Oh and he said it was Mopar Collector Guide (he thinks). He has every issue since 1998 and will check to see if he can find it.

Didn't Oscar get that car from Merill Bruner?

Welcome, to the grandson of Oscar Derrick!

I hope we get to see this car at a Slant 6 drag race again sometime...

Best wishes,

Lou
