has any one used tubular upper control arms for an a body. had a run in with a ditch and im trying to make the best of it fiberglass fenders, hood, ext, ext. im wondering if there worth it any advice would be appreciated

As with anything, it depends on your application.
Tubular upper control arms certainly have their benifits. I'd consider running them but i'm a dedicated cheapskate AND i'm old-skool in a bad way.
A tubular K should only be considered if you're drag racing or the car is going to see VERY limited street duty-- IMHO, that is.

its almost cheaper to buy the tubular uca's if you dont alreay have set of stock ones, if you were to buy used stock ucs's they'd run you about $100 plus shipping for cores, and you'd need to clean and paint and add new bushings, that would cost nealry $200 more. so i'd rather just buy the tubular control arms.

$100 for used UCAs!!!?? Sounds like ePay pricing.

if you want to buy tubulars, get them from bill reilly at www.bigblockdart.com , his are the best i have seen and i bought a set for my big block dart and am very pleased with them.

..dont make the mistake of going to magnumforce they will rip you and their UCAs rub

I just got a set from Bill Reilly yesterday. Bill was very helpfull and easy to contact by phone and e-mail. He also had no problem answering the technical questions I had about the application. Outstanding service. I am sure the parts will be equally impressive. I will install them this weekend.

www.firmfeel.com also has nice upper control arms as well as suspension stuff for early A body cars and all kinds of various things.

I've got a set of UCA's from my '66 for sale on Ebay right now; last I checked they were only going for a dollar for the pair of them. I think that with a new balljoint they'll work on a '69. Some of the tubular control arms out there are made for corner burners; they're not just drag race parts. I've heard a few are engineered for better caster and camber, making the car a good deal more stable at high speeds. They are a lot more expensive than stock stampings though.

True Dat Madd Matt. However, one should always keep in mind that just the addition of tubular UCA isn't the magic beans. Gotta think system. Tubular LCA's and some lengthened LCA's could provide more fun than wrapping a cat's feet in tin-foil. Well, at least for me that is.

At any rate, i **think** that there was only one UBJ for the pre 72 A-bodies, but don't quote me on that. It might be the same size but with a different sized shaft for the disk and drum units. hmmm...
I'm sure somebody will correct me...
