On our 73 Duster, the strut rod bushing is missing on one side. The previous owner replaced it with chunks of old tire. I have new poly bushings from Just Suspension. My manual says I need to remove the lower control arm to get the strut rod out of the cross member. The guy at the alignment shop says it shouldn't require that. I really don't want to remove the lca if I don't have to. If that is what is required, I may have the alignment shop so it since they do good work for a great price. Thanks.

Mike

you will have to loosen the lower control arm & torsion bar, they need to slide back to allow the removal of the strut rod, hopefully nothing is stuck, it took me about 30 minutes once I finally decided to tackle it, everything slid easily. Anyhow once the bar is out, place the new parts in, I don't know how mixing poly bushing & rubber ones will affect anything. Good Luck

So it sound like I don't need to entirely remove the LCA but just loosen it. Maybe i'll give it a try. I bought two entire bushing sets so I won't be mixing and it should work. Sorry for the confusion, my earlier post wasn't that clear. Thanks.

Mike
