i painted my intake manafold with the frist few coats of paint this eve.
but i spent today scrubbing it clean using 4 wire brushes and a wire wheel, cleaned the carb stud holes, and picked up some nice aftermarket carb studs. i will spend this eve cleaning up and rebuilding the carter bbd.

i am still missing some of the kick down pices if you have any for sale please message me. ~ neil

Love the tank; I have an 80 gal myslef, but back to your project. You mentioned needing a super-six exhaust header; did you mean the cast iron manifold, tubular headers, or something else? The stock manifold is identical year on year fro both 1 bbl and 2bbl applications. Unless yours is broken or otherwise non-functional you can use it with no problems other that the usual care to get it properly aligned and sealed.

Looking good MiDi!

Did you follow the directions on the High temp paint? Many of them call for baking the paint with a couple thermal cycles.

David's point about the single outlet exhaust is a good one. The Exhaust manifold is identical, other than not having the EGR valve. It looks like you have a non-EGR exhaust there.

We'll have to work something out on the Feather Duster head pipe for you! I need to check in with DusterIdiot before we get too far along on that evolution. I got the FD headpipe from him.
Jumping up to the 2-1/4" from the 1-7/8" will give you a lot better breathing though. To get the charge in there, you have to get flow out. :D

I plan to break my new engine in on my current stack, then pull the exhaust when I have the rear axle out. I'll make the switch over to my Dual Dutra Duals afterward. I was thinking in terms of running back to the muffler with 2-1/4" then going back from there with my single 2-1/4" tail pipe. I also need to get a second O2 sensor to set everything up.

The FD headpipe is already set up with an O2 bung. You won't need it quite as badly with the BBD. Running a Holley 4 bbl is a bit trickier. ;)

werk on the exhaust manafold:
i have the choke pocket cut out per the supersix article, now is the paint on the flapper parts and the threads. then mopar blue for the manafold. in
keeping with the black hardware on blue theme. (all 1200 deg paint) and yeah the paint gets harder w/ heat.

H'mmm. Why we are cutting the choke pocket? The choke pocket is the same (1bbl and 2bbl) on all slant-6 exhaust manifolds from '73 up. You will probably want to install one of the Electric choke kits, which will work better than the nonadjustable stock item (and make the shape of the choke pocket irrelevant).

hmm i wish i would of known that! i am just following Reed's super six page. this makes me wonder what else i am doing wrong. :(

I don't think it's likely you've done anything fatal or expensive — in any event, the electric choke kit makes it irrelevant — but yeah, there are a few technical issues in the Super Six article. Perhaps it should be revised.
