Are solid u-joints available in the small 7260 size?

Also a conversion joint 7260 X 7290?

When I put my 4.56 gears in I will need the conversion joint for the rear.

Rick

I turned my own cups for my 8" adaption, that covered both the size and the spread differences.
Nearly any small lathe'll do the job.

Both solid 7260 joint and 7260-7290 adapter joint exist. Call a local driveshaft shop, or good indep parts store, or call dennysdriveshaft.com.

I looked at Denny's and they do not list the solid one in conversion or 7260. Maybe I'll just call them.

I got the adapter joint, but I was looking for the solid version. The joints with grease fittings will be fine with my automatic, but when I go to the 4 speed with slicks I was thinking it would add an extra measure of strength.

Rick

Just got a note from Denny's and they do not carry the solid ones I need.

If you break a u-joint there is usually another issue. I had regular 7260's in my Valiant and never even wore one out.

Ok, that is good to know. I was just guessing that the shock loads from the 4 speed launch would be a lot harder on everything than even a high stall automatic.

I had a trans brake and 150 shot of giggle gas. Your puny stick is irrelevant.

I think you meant "Borg-Zilla"... Awesome.

I agree you should not be taxing a good stock type 7260 joint. DI could probably break them, though... :P

Solid u-joints are definitely not a good street piece either.

Razz Shocked

I figure if I solved the clutch problem, the u-joints are next to go, if I don't turn the driveline into a pretzel...
