 Post subject: washer switch

going to put an after market external washer pump on. can i wire it into the wiper washer switch on the dash?i think i tried this once before on another car and it didn't work . does the washer work off of ground or pos?

I think the switch on the wiper connects to ground. Easy to test. First, use a voltmeter to see if there is voltage on the washer switch. If not, then use the ohms setting to see if the switch connects to ground when pushed (I suspect it does).
