Does any know what or who holds the record for the naturally aspirated slant six, in the quarter mile. I know that Pete McNichol from Maidson Heights Mischigan, held it in F Gas for a number of years in the 60's and 70's . What I am looking for is the cam, induction system combination that afforded him that long reign with his slant six. Another question Pound for cubic inch, which is better, 170, or 225. I AM GOING FOR THE RECORD, SO WRITE IT DOWN, AND REMEMBER THIS DATE.

Pat Osburn.

Now you have me wondering what that record is today.
With all the new technology out there, my bet is that is is pretty fast.
As for our club record, current "anything goes" SL6 "fast man" is Charles Myers with a 9.93 @ 131 MPH.

As for NHRA G & F Stock records, looks like it's in the low 12 second area.
Im' not sure if there is another Index class where a SL6 could fit and be competitive, maybe there is a "loop-hole" in some of the newer Import classes, this could be fun to go-out and "duck-shoot: some ricers, that is...until they changed the rules to outlaw you!

I think he was reffering to F/Gas, a class that no longer exists. It got swallowed up into what is now Comp Eliminator.

The only Stock class a Slant will fit in is V. I don't really think that there are any NHRA classes where a Slant would be competitive anymore. :(

F and G records are high 10's/low 11's. http://www.nhra.com/stats/stk_record.html

I think Charles also holds the modern record for all motor too. He went 9:93 in his dragster.

IHRA still has classes to Z stock, NHRA dropped X,Y and Z. Charlie S ran NHRA Z/SA in the mid 70s with good success till the class was penciled out. His '65 Valiant, 170, auto, no longer will fit in NHRA. The bests slant for NHRA Stock Eliminator now are a '77-'79 Volare/Aspen wagon with 225-2/4spd for V/S, an early 80s Mirada 225-2/auto for V/SA and an early 70s Duster/Dart 198-1/auto for V/SA.
The '70 Duster is being currently run, the '81 Mirada is being built, maybe finnished, the '77 Aspen is on the planning board.
